Colin Farrell first gained critical attention when he starred in Joel Schumacher's Tigerland, receiving a Best Actor Award from the Boston Society of Film Critics for his portrayal of "Bozz", a roughneck Texan recruit training for a tour of duty in Vietnam. After Tigerland, Farrell took on the role of Jesse James in American Outlaws. Farrell then shot a starring role in the thriller Phone Booth, and then co-starred with Bruce Willis in the P.O.W. drama Hart's War.
He then went on to Stephen Spielberg's Minority Report alongside Tom Cruise, the CIA thriller The Recruit opposite Al Pacino, and then portrayed Bullseye, the villain in Daredevil with Ben Affleck, Jennifer Garner, and Michael Clarke Duncan. After Daredevil, he then went on to work in Intermission. He also did a cameo in Veronica Guerin, a film about the slain Irish crime journalist.
He stars in S.W.A.T. with Samuel L. Jackson, Michelle Rodriguez, LL Cool J, and Olivier Martinez which will be released on August 8th.He completed filming on the indie A Home at the End of the World this past May.
Next up, he will star as Alexander the Great in Oliver Stone's film Alexander with Anthony Hopkins, Angelina Jolie, Jared Leto, and Rosario Dawson. Filming starts in September 2003.
A native of Ireland, Farrell studied acting at the Gaiety School of Drama in Dubin and already established himself as a recognizable talent back home with a starring role in the BBC series Ballykissangel and Dierdre Purcell's miniseries Falling for a Dancer, in addition to a featured role in Tim Roth's directoral debut, The War Zone. Farrell also starred alongside Kevin Spacey in Thaddeus O'Sullivan's Dublin gangster movie, Ordinary Decent Criminal. It was Spacey who suggested him for the part after catching Farrell's riveting performance in the play, In a Little World of Our Own at the Donmar Warehouse in London.
Also, Colin is the proud papa-to-be of a baby boy due September 12, 2003 (with model Kim Bordenave).
